Once upon a bygone era, when NPS was still Hotel Del Monte hosting Hollywood royalty and political luminaries from all over the world, a man named Henry Tiedemann was its controller. At Christmastime, guests found the doors of their rooms decked in handcrafted holly wreaths made of garland from trees that lined the hotel orchards. Tiedemann eventually had a few of those holly trees replanted outside his own family home on Ocean Avenue in Oak Grove, and they still thrive in the vibrant yard of this supremely special and beloved residence with deep connections to the history of the entire area. Now the home is looking for its next steward to become part of a fascinating legacy of love and beauty in Monterey. Each room has extraordinary character of a nature that is simply not found in the world today.
